About us

Founded in 1977 our first base was Blaenavon Leisure Centre, two years later we moved to Fairwater Leisure Centre where we have remained.

Founder member and Coach for 23 of those years was Gary Rosser now Wales National Coach.

Phil Seabourne who has worked as a volunteer teacher and assistant coach for the last 20 years now heads the Squad.

Torfaen Swim Squad have over the years been very lucky with volunteers and always welcome people able to help. These volunteers are the Parents, Grandparents Aunts and Uncles of our young swimmers.

We have an excellent record of producing top class swimmers and over the years have achieved many Commonwealth Games representatives.

We are one of the first fully integrated swimming clubs where swimmers with disabilities train alongside able bodied swimmers.

We are proud to say this year one of our members Gareth Duke met the criteria for the Paralymics in Athens.

Gareth won a Gold Medal in the 100 metres Breaststroke!

CONGRATULATIONS! GARETH WE ARE ALL PROUD OF YOU!
